Wayne Woods

applies his stress-free approach and sense of humor to his photojournalistic style with the experience that comes from having photographed hundreds of events. “Your images will be viewed with smiles from start to finish -- for generations to come. Seize the day.” He has received numerous awards both locally and internationally. Several of his images have been selected for exhibition at the annual Professional Photo Expos, and he was a featured speaker for the Marin Association of Professional Photographers.

JIM CARROLL, KIETH RICHARDS, AND WAYNE

Wayne came to photography after a career as a successful professional musician. He had already been playing drums in grade school for two years when he experienced his “epiphany” -- he discovered live, electric music. Wayne knew that he had heard the calling and pursued music for the next twenty years. Wayne toured and recorded as a member of The Jim Carroll Band for seven years, and performed with such luminaries as Keith Richards, Lou Reed, Patti Smith and John Belushi (yes, John was a musician, too).

Wayne Woods is based in Marin County, serves all of the San Francisco Greater Bay Area and the Sonoma / Napa Wine Country, and the world.

Wayne’s songs can be heard on several movie and TV soundtracks, such as “E.T., the Extra-Terrestrial,” “Clueless,” and “The Basketball Diaries.” His drumsticks are on display in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cincinnati, OH. Update: You'll be able to hear Wayne again on the up coming "Dawn of the Dead" soundtrack!

After marrying and starting a family, Wayne faced the dilemma of having to be away from his new family for months at a time while touring. He decided to switch his passion for sensory communication from audio to visual, and started by “playing roadie” for several working photographers and taking classes at Golden Gate School of Professional Photography. There, he was inspired by the vision of several talented photographic artists. He joined The Professional Photographers of the Greater Bay Area and won their “Wedding Album Competition” three times.

“It’s really quite similar.” Wayne says, “With music, you might be scanning the radio tuner when “pop,” there it is -- that song that makes you reach over and turn it up." "With photography, you could be flipping through a magazine and an image catches your eye. You stop and go back because you have to check it out. It’s that connection, not just to the brain, but also to the heart. It speaks to you -- and you understand it.”
